There are a lot of us who use Adwords to gain traffic for our businesses and sell things to other folks. But innovation works in any area of life. That includes online advertising as well. Finding a job with Google Adwords is very much possible if you are creative about it. Alec Brownstein’s story shows that it’s not the tool that matters but how you use it. Google Adwords is a tool. By looking at how people use Google Search, one can formulate a strategy to get the most out of Google Adwords. Here is what Alec did. He started bidding on the name of creative directors on Google. We all have our egos and Google our names from time to time. But those names are not going to be something people bid on (not yet anyway). What better way to gain someone’s attention than actually showing them an ad with their name in it?

Does this work for everyone? It could if you play your cards right. Alec has not only found a job from his experiment, he has also gained a lot of praise and views on YouTube. So he’s got a double whammy there. You can be sure that more people will try this tactic now that they have seen it in action. It won’t work for everyone. Alec is obviously talented and has the skills for the job he was going after. It does, however, show that if you are creative with your Adwords approach, the sky’s the limit.

Thinking outside the box and knowing your audience never hurts. Tools such as LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter have given us all plenty of options when it comes to finding new ways to reach out to recruiters and top people in top corporations. Should you bid on someone’s Twitter name? Should you stalk them on Facebook? It’s really up to you how much you want to push the envelop. In this case, Alec found a way to reach out to his audience without turning them off. That’s key!
<div

A few years ago, Google was a bit lenient when it came to dealing with people who were using redirects or other addresses in their display URL section. But that would open Google to a lot of liabilities, which is why Google is tightening the rules and adding new guidelines for advertisers.

When it comes to choosing a URL for your business or landing page, you want to make sure it’s something that is brandable, catchy, and short (with emphasis on short). A domain name that is too long and contains too many words is just tough to remember and hard to push through Google Adwords and other advertising websites. I have found that many marketers just get too greedy when it comes to choosing their domain name. They not only go for longer URLs (with keywords), they don’t even register their own domain. Running a business using blogspot is not too ideal these days.

There are tools that can help you find a good domain name and register it fast. Domainsbot and Domize are two domain name search services that let you mix and match your keywords with brandable terms to come up with URLs that can help your business grow instead of hindering it.

You can be the ultimate expert in landing page optimization and analytics. But if you don’t have a decent URL in hand, you are seriously hurting your business or campaigns. Don’t get me wrong. There are ways to get around whatever guideline Google has put forth. Google is notorious for keeping loopholes open one way or another. It’s also true that having the relevant keyword in your URL could help you with your 1st page bids. But don’t get too greedy. Length definitely does matter when it comes to URLs.
<div

I am personally no big fan of Internet marketing products. A lot of them are scams. I have spent thousands of dollars on products that repackage the same content you can read in a book but you end up paying $100 or more for them anyway. I am no big fan of membership clubs either. Most of these clubs are overrated anyway. Maverick Money Makers and Immediate Edge are the only two membership clubs that I have tried and actually didn’t hate. The content is great, and you can’t really find more value elsewhere. But more importantly, these two clubs provide you with a blueprint on how to create and market your own product online. That’s really the key when purchasing any of these products. You don’t buy the product, read the content, and just forget it. You should try to study how the folks behind these products are pushing their business online, and what you can learn about the quality of their content, how they have set up their business, and how they are using their affiliate army to push their products.

Maverick Money Makers is one of the best seller product, and it has been for months. People are pushing the product on Google, Yahoo, MSN, and other channels to generate sales. And that’s where learning can happen. You see, Maverick Money Makers is not a mainstream product. By that, I mean it’s not a computer or a laptop, so the keywords that you can bid on and the ways you can promote the product are much different than when you are pushing a blu-ray player online. When you use the word blu-ray in your ads, a lot fo people already know what you are talking about. When you write a piece about blu-ray players, there is a lot of technical stuff involved. That means your copy can be terrible but as long as you are hitting the right technical notes, you may end up selling a good amount of blu-ray players anyway. With Maverick Money Makers, you are going to have to do a bit of work to develop your proper keyword list and develop strategies on how you want to promote the product. The same can be said about Immediate Edge.

Pay per click marketing may not be right for every product but I can tell you a lot of folks have made a fortune by selling these courses online. That means you are going to have a lot of opportunities to learn and develop strategies to sell any type of product. If you can develop a killer PPC campaign for Maverick Money Makers, you can develop one for any product. These membership sites provide you with very valuable content, but if you are selling them online, you must have the right copy, the right keywords, the right campaign structure, and maybe even the right bonus product to get a good commission check. You may not be at a point in your PPC journey to know how to do all this. That won’t matter. You should always follow the latest online marketing products and how people are pushing them online to find out how to develop your own killer strategy. You can read all the PPC books on the market but nothing beats seeing things in practice, and what a better way to do that than observing PPC professionals who are making a killing selling others’ products online.
<div

But negative campaigning does not only belong in the political arenas. Pay per click marketers also use negative campaigning to promote products, and it is one of the most effective methods to make a killing on Google and other search marketing networks.

PPC negative campaigning is a little bit different than its counter part in the world of politics. In politics, you are trying to keep folks from voting for the other guy. In the PPC world, you are trying to raise doubts about a product and make folks read through your sales-letter to find out why they NEED to get the product.

You have probably seen it on Google before. Let’s say you want to get John Reese’s Traffic Secrets 2.0. If you take a look at paid listing, you’ll see some of the following headlines:

Don’t buy John Reese’s TS2 before reading this

The Shocking Truth about TS2

Is TS2 a Scam?

TS2 is a waste of money

Now, none of these headlines are complementary for TS2, but they raise questions in shopper’s minds. If you are 50% sure about buying TS2, you are likely to click on one of these ads to figure out what all the drama is about. Of course, once you do that, you are going to be presented with a sales-letter that encourages you to get TS2 in addition to the bonus that these guys provide to complement what’s included with TS2.

The moral of story is, negative campaigning pays in the paid search channel. Information seekers and shoppers are likely to click on your ads just to figure out if there is any truth to your claim. That means your CTR will be up, and your quality score will be up, and you’ll pay less to get folks to your site. Who knew negative campaigning could be so positive?
<div
