icon1 Posted by PPC Fanatic in News on 12 1st, 2011 | No Comments

Those who make a decent living from AdSense know the importance of using custom and URL channels to track the performance of their websites. You never know when your earnings spike or drop dramatically. You won’t be able to find out what’s happening unless you are using the right channel structure. Going used to limit the number of custom/URL channels to 200. Google has increased that limit to 500 custom channels per product and 500 URL channels for AdSense for content.

To date, you’ve been limited to a total of 200 custom and URL channels, and many of you have asked for more. That’s why today, we’re very excited to announce that we’ve raised this limit to 500 custom channels per product, and 500 URL channels for AdSense for content. (more…)

Remove Tax Hold from your AdSense Account
icon1 Posted by PPC Fanatic in PPC Advertising on 11 25th, 2011 | No Comments

A short while ago, Google discontinued the old interface and forced everyone to adopt the new interface. As it happened, our account went on a hold when we were switched over. The problem? Google needed our tax information yet again. If you are making any kind of money from AdSense, you need to provide Google with your tax information. In fact, Google has announced that it will soon start sending tax documents to publishers making money off of Google.

To ensure that your AdSense account reflects your current tax standing, you may even re-submit your tax information. We’ll soon be using the information in your AdSense account to generate your tax forms for 2011, so you’ll want to make sure that the information we have is correct. (more…)

Old AdSense Interface Retires
icon1 Posted by PPC Fanatic in News on 11 18th, 2011 | No Comments

The good old days of AdSense are truly over. The program has come a long way in the past few years. Google has finally retired the old interface, forcing every AdSense use to start using the new AdSense user. Till now, Google AdSense users could switch back and forth between the old and the new interface. The new interface is quite sleek but does scare away some small business owners.

Google Adds +1 to Ads
icon1 Posted by PPC Fanatic in News on 09 21st, 2011 | No Comments

Google is getting serious about Google+. It has already opened the doors to the public, letting everyone join its social network. Google is planning to add +1 button to display ads in October. That means ads that get recommended by your visitors are more likely to show up to their contacts. Essentially, your visitors will get to endorse ads on your site. That could lead to more clicks. Here is how Google Ads will look like in the future:

Avoid Adult Content To Keep Your Adsense Account
icon1 Posted by PPC Fanatic in stuff on 08 10th, 2011 | No Comments

Many publishers rely on Adsense ads to stay afloat as a business.  You may not be able to make millions from your Adsense account but every dollar that you make counts. I have seen the temptation in some publishers to include adult type content on their sites to increase their earnings from other networks. The trouble is you could get kicked out of Adsense, even though you are not trying to target Adsense with those adult articles.

What To Do If Panda Killed Your Adsense Earning
icon1 Posted by PPC Fanatic in PPC Advertising on 04 20th, 2011 | No Comments

Google does tend to update its ranking algorithm on a consistent basis. Even the smallest of changes could affect a whole lot of folks. When you lose your organic traffic due to algorithm changes such as the Panda update, you lose more than just your visitors. Your affiliate and Adsense earnings will drop too. So even those of you who have worked hard to create multiple streams of revenue for your website to keep yourself protected against these types of disasters could be feeling the latest slap strongly. Here are a few things you can do to start increasing your Adsense revenue yet again:

  • content: the latest Google update is all about the quality of content on sites. Creating quality content does take a bit of time. We may have gotten away with OK content in the past. But these days content is truly king.
  • position: just because your ads have been making you a lot of money does not mean you should not test different things and change your site’s layout or ad positions. If you are hit hard by the latest Google Panda update, you should try moving your Adsense ads to a place where people are more likely to check them out. (more…)

Google Custom Search Gets an Upgrade
icon1 Posted by PPC Fanatic in Landing Page Tips on 11 4th, 2009 | No Comments

There are a lot of publishers out there who make more than a few bucks a day with Adsense these days. If you happen to receive a decent amount of traffic to your blog or portal, there is a good chance that you can use Google Adsense to make money online. Google Custom Search has always been one of the best ways to implement Adsense on content portals and provide more value to your readers. You can also make money from the ads displayed on your website as well.

1

Google Custom Search was decent before, but the company has introduced a few additional rich features to help you get more out of your custom search snippets. For starters, you now access to more themes to choose from. So you can give your search page a better look and feel. (more…)

Google Adsense Video Died a Slow Death
icon1 Posted by PPC Fanatic in Thoughts on 06 16th, 2009 | No Comments

Product Details

Hate to be dramatic about it, but there was no question in my mind since I tried Google Adsense for Videos that the service won’t last too long. YouTube has not been the cash cow Google hoped it’d be, which is why it’s getting a makeover to move a bit away from user-generated content to generate more revenue for Google. Google Adsense for Video was a bad waste of ad space at best and a torture for publishers at worst. Google didn’t make enough money with them either:

… we frequently review our products and features to ensure their effectiveness. After reviewing our AdSense video units feature, which allows you to show YouTube content and ads on your pages, we’ve found that it hasn’t had the impact we had hoped for. As a result, we’ve decided to retire this feature at the end of April so we can focus our resources on other opportunities to help publishers earn from their sites.

It’s noble to try new things and test things out to figure out what works and what doesn’t on your website. But Google Adsense video units were truly atrocious. That doesn’t mean there weren’t people who were having success with Google Adsense Video. It’s just that it wasn’t making enough money for Google to continue the product.

If you have read popular Adsense books such as Adsense Secrets, you know that your goal should be to integrate Adsense into your pages in a way that it doesn’t screen “I am an Ad!” People are mentally blocking ads these days, and I didn’t think it was going to change with video ads. If you still enjoy displaying videos on your blog, you don’t have to necessarily remove your Adsense video codes from your site. They will automatically show YouTube videos on your site:

Once video units are retired at the end of April, any remaining Leaderboard or Skyscraper video units on your pages will direct users to YouTube.com, while other video unit sizes will automatically be changed to standard embedded YouTube players. These standard video players will display top YouTube videos, but you won’t generate earnings from them once this change occurs. If you have less than three ad units on your page, you may prefer to replace your video unit with a regular ad unit.

Of course, you may want to replace your video units with something that actually pays you in the long run. YouTube is great but who would want to display YouTube videos in hot ad spots?
