icon1 Posted by PPC Fanatic in News on 10 27th, 2011 | No Comments

Google has been using ads from Google-certified ad networks to compete against AdSense ads for the display ad space on websites for a while now. It has announced that you will be able to check the performance of your ads from these networks. If you have chosen to display ads from competing networks in AdSense, you will now be able to check their performance.

Google AdWords Too Complicated?
icon1 Posted by PPC Fanatic in News on 02 16th, 2011 | No Comments

There was a time when small businesses could set up a Google Adwords account and get started with buying ads on Google and its network right away. The game has become much more complicated these days. Google Adwords has a ton of options for advertisers to take advantage of. That is not necessarily a bad thing for companies who have the funds to hire experts to setup their campaigns and ads for them. (more…)

Google Improves Google AdWords Certification
icon1 Posted by PPC Fanatic in PPC Advertising on 01 26th, 2011 | No Comments

Google Adwords Certification program is a great credential to have for anyone hoping to get started in the PPC advertising business. The program was a bit all over the place a couple of years ago. Google has done a wonderful job revamping its certification program in the past few months. With the launch of Google Partner Search, Adwords professionals have more ways to get business and recognition for their efforts. (more…)

AdWords Keyword Tool Adds Mobile Info
icon1 Posted by PPC Fanatic in SEM Tools on 01 12th, 2011 | No Comments

Google AdWords keyword tool is one of the best free research tool around. It has a ton of features and a great way to start your PPC and SEO campaigns on the right foot. The fact that Google keeps improving this tool does not hurt its cause either. The tool is now capable of showing you information on mobile devices.

The Keyword Tool now helps you build a better keyword list to target mobile users. Under “Advanced options,” you can now search for keywords for devices with mobile WAP browsers, mobile devices with full Internet browsers (think iPhone and Android phones), or all mobile devices (sum of devices with WAP browsers and devices with Internet browsers). Adwords Report Center Retiring
icon1 Posted by PPC Fanatic in stuff on 10 27th, 2010 | No Comments

Google is out to make life easier for small and large advertisers. Those of us who have been around Adwords for a few years have known that it needed some re-organizing. Google is finally putting the final pieces together in that regard. The Report Center, which has become redundant with Google moving reports to the Campaign tab, will retire in the next “few weeks.” Here is how Google put it:

If you’re currently downloading reports from the Campaigns tab, you’ve already adjusted to the bulk of the changes, and you’ll find that each of your scheduled reports have been copied to the Control Panel & Library. We’ll delete any old versions of scheduled reports from the Reports tab, and stop sending the emails associated with them, by early November. Shortly thereafter, we’ll remove the Report Center entirely. (more…)

Adwords Tracking Gets Even Better

You can’t expect to be successful with your Adwords campaigns without spending some time testing everything possible. In order to test your campaigns, you need to keep track of things: where your visitors are coming from and which keywords of what type are responsible for your conversions. Thanks to Adwords new enhancement, you have now even more data on your campaigns to sink your teeth into:

Starting now, your destination URL can include the {matchtype} and {network} parameters. Here’s a quick example of how you might use these parameters:
Let’s say you have a keyword-targeted campaign running on Google search, search partners, and the Google Display Network. If your website is www.yoursite.com, you can use the new and existing ValueTrack parameters in your AdWords campaign to set the destination URL to: http://www.yoursite.com/?keyword={keyword}&matchtype={matchtype}&source={network}.

Adwords Ads Now Wrap?
icon1 Posted by PPC Fanatic in News on 09 22nd, 2010 | No Comments

Many marketers assume that Google’s rules are set in stone. Just because Google allows people to have 35 characters per line in the body of their ad does not mean that Google will always display 35 characters per line. Google is all about providing the best search experience to its users. So the rules are not set in stone. One of the small changes that Google seems to have implemented with Google Instant is Ad wrapping.

Did Google Ban Its Adwords Help Pages?
icon1 Posted by PPC Fanatic in Thoughts on 07 14th, 2010 | No Comments

Google has been quite clear what it’s willing to accept from webmasters that rely on Google search results to generate leads. Every blackhat SEO knows that cloaking and tactics like that could lead to a potential ban for websites implementing them. Apparently, it seems Google Adwords help pages were using the same tactic. Funnily, they seem to have been slapped by Google itself. The problem does seem to have been solved, but it does show Google does things it preaches against.

Adwords Reporting Is Changing
icon1 Posted by PPC Fanatic in News on 06 23rd, 2010 | No Comments

In case you have missed it, Google has been changing its Adwords interface and adding new tools in the past few months. The latest change seems to be concerning Adwords reports. With all the information that you can now dig up under campaign tab, it was inevitable that Google did something about its Report Center.

The Adwords interface has gone through plenty of changes recently as Google aims to combine insights and control for more effective campaign management for its customers. By moving the remaining reports from Report Center to your campaign tab, there is no reason for Google to keep the report center around: (more…)
